The Ukrainian defense-tech company WARMAX has successfully completed the codification procedure for a new fiber-optic FPV attack drone - RONNY-13-O. The UAV is officially approved for use by the Defense Forces to perform a wide range of tasks.
Operator training is provided by WARMAX's partner, the Dronarium Military Academy, which has trained more than 15,000 pilots for the Ukrainian Defense Forces since 2022.
Technical characteristics and combat use
The RONNY-13-O UAV provides accurate strikes in intense electronic warfare conditions - it "sees" and hits even when the radio airwaves are completely jammed. The drone can be equipped with fiber optic modules for 10, 15 and 20 km. The 20-km WARMAX coil weighs only 1,750 grams, which makes it possible to "deliver" a 1.5 kg warhead to the enemy in just 30 minutes of flight or even faster, provided the operator has sufficient training and skills. With a 15 km range, the drone can carry up to 2.5 kg.
RONNY-13-O made its first combat flight in the Pokrovske direction in January 2025. Then, as part of joint combat tests with the participation of the company's R&D department head and the Defense Forces crew, the drone with a 10 km WARMAX coil successfully covered a distance of 9.7 km and hit a target in cover with three kilograms of warhead.
Since then, the RONNY-13-O drones have been successfully flying combat missions in various frontline areas on a daily basis, including at distances of 15 and 20 kilometers.
In 2022, 20 kilometers was a conditional rear. In 2025, it will be a battlefield.
Ronnie-13-O successfully hits targets at a distance of up to 20 km with a powerful payload. It works both on stationary targets - electronic warfare assets, manpower concentrations, positions, installations - and on moving targets: cars, tanks, combat vehicles.
It is effective in ambush mode, deployable in 10 minutes and, of course, completely resistant to the effects of electronic warfare," comments Ruda, a veteran and head of R&D at WARMAX.
The UAV can be equipped with both day and night thermal imaging cameras, which allows it to perform tasks at any time of the day.
Full operator training included
The drones are delivered in a fully integrated form for fiber optic control - in RTF (Ready to Fly) state, configured, ready to use, with operator training provided by the official WARMAX partner - the Dronarium Academy training center.
A digital solution for the RONNI-13-O fiber-optic system is at the final stage of development and testing, which will allow the system to overcome the 20 km range and bring it to a new level of autonomy and accuracy.
WARMAX TECHNOLOGIES is a Ukrainian defense-tech company specializing in the development and production of electronic intelligence and warfare (EW/EW) systems, strike UAVs, and tactical command and control (C2) systems, including fiber optic control, digital communications, and signal amplifier antennas.
DRONARIUM ACADEMY is a training academy that trains operators of air, ground, and underwater unmanned systems. Since March 2022, it has trained more than 15,000 military operators.
